How to make favorite Indian Dish “Daal Chawal”

Daal chawal is a very famous dish of India. Actually the daal chawal is a combination of two dish namely “Daal” and “Chawal”. Daal is hindi word which means “Pulses”. There are many kind of pulses available in India, most famous are “tuwar daal”, “masur dal”.
Chawal is hindi name of cooked rice. The combination of both “Daal” and “Chawal” make a great combination.

These are many variations and types of this recipe because it is so common in Indian house hold. So here we will discuss a simplest form of this recipe. So let’s know the This very famous and common recipe of India.



Ingredients

For Daal

Daal or Pulses – 1 cup
Water -  3 cup
Turmeric Powder - 1/ 2 tsp
Salt - To taste
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
Oil/ ghee : 1 tsp
Tomato (finely chopped) : 1 medium
Onion (finely chopped) : 1 medium


Wash the Daal gently with water then put this daal into a pressure cooker and add 3 cup of water. Then add salt, turmeric powder into it and boil till 2 whistle.
Keep the Daal aside and prepare tadka for Daal.

Heat the oil/ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds start crackling, add onion and keep frying till it turns to golden brown.
Add chopped tomato and green Chillies.
Garnish with the coriander leaves and lemon juice. Keep it covered for 2 minutes.


For Chawal

Rice     - 1 Cup
Water   - 2 Cup


Wash rice and then add it to a pressure cooker with 2 cup of water. cook till 1 whistle.
After the rice has fully cooked its time to combine both "Daal Chawal" together. Mix both and enjoy.
