A Beautiful Trip to McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala- Part 1

Hello everyone, I am writing this travel experience after a huge gap. I recently visited Mcleod ganj and Dharmshala for my honeymoon (Yes! I got married on 9/12/20) .

We started our journey from Bhopal in a train called "Jhelum Express" early morning at 8.00 clock . We travelled till the Pathankot junction by train and reached there by the next morning 5.45. after that we took a bus. The bus we took was routed to Manali so the conductor told we could go till Gaggal  a place in Kangra which is just 20 km far from Mcleod Ganj and I could get another bus from there easily.

I reached Gaggal in 2 hours and as I reached there I easily got the bus for Mcleod ganj. Gaggal has a airport so if you want to come Dharmshala/ Mcleaod Ganj by plane you can come till Gaggal.

Gaggal

Once I boarded bus from Gaggal the scenic view of the Dhouladhar range was taking my breath away. The snow clad mountains was started to visible and we were so happy to see it.

The journey was so beautiful with lots of twist and turns. We reached Mclead Ganj at 10.00 Am

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation or HRTC bus is a govt. unit and my experience on these buses are really awesome. I really appreciate the behavior and the helping nature of staff members of HRTC.

Once I reached Mcleod Ganj I hired a ca till our hotel. The hotel in which we were was "White Water Inn". We pre-booked this hotel from MakeMyTrip. The road till our hotel was steep but beautiful also there are some stared from main rode to hotel which looks great but could be difficult for elderly people.

Rooms were nice but the view from the balcony was mind blowing. We could clearly see snow capped mountains from our bed.

After getting fresh we took a nap. In evening we agreed to roam around in town. The main market of McleadGanj was 1 km away from our hotel so we decided to walk to the market.

It was a great experience walking in the midst of pine trees. There was a beautiful smell around everywhere due to the trees and fresh air.

Mcleadganj Market was a small market but has lot to offer. You can buy antiques, woolens, souvenir and other items. There are a lot of restaurants in town. You can taste the famous Momos of Mcleod Ganj.

As everyone knows Mcleod-Ganj is also called "Little Lhasa" because of large population of Tibetans immigrants who came after the Chinese occupation in  Tibet. His holiness Dalai Lama is also living in Mcleod-Ganj. Thus you can find a lot of Tibetan goods and foods there.
