Madan Mahal Fort

The hill of this Madan Mahal, built at a height of about 500 above the ground, is considered to be very old. A post was built on this hill by the Gond king Madan Shah. The building of this fort would also have been used as an army observation post. Looking at the many small rooms in the structure of this building, it seems that the army of the ruler living here would also have lived. Perhaps this building had two sections. It had a courtyard and now only two more rooms of the courtyard are left. There is a beautiful painting in the ceiling printing. It is supported by square pillars with roof panels. It is believed that this palace also has many secret tunnels which connect it to the 64 Yogini temple built in 1000 AD in Jabalpur.

It is also believed to be the rest house of the tenth Gond king Madan Shah. This is a very simple building. But at that time the splendor of this kingdom was immense. The treasury was looted by the Mughal rulers.

A couplet is still prevalent in Garha-Mandla - in the shade of Madan Mahal, between two Tongos. Deposits worth nine lakhs, two gold bricks.

This building is now under the care of the Archaeological Institute of India.
